BIOGRAPHY
Professor Leen graduated in 1984 with MB BCh BAO and in 1994 with a doctor in medicine from University College Dublin School of Medicine, NUI. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists in London in 1994. He completed his radiology training at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Scotland and from 1994 to 2007, he was appointed consultant radiologist and honourary senior lecturer at Glasgow University. He was head of US and interventional ablation service and the US microbubble clinical research unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He joined the Imperial College, London faculty in 2007. Now based at the Hammersmith Hospital campus, he leads the clinical interventional ablative therapy services at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust hospitals.

Professor Leen has a longstanding interest in the clinical development of microbubble enhanced ultrasound for the microvascular haemodynamic assessments in cancer and cardiovascular diseases. He also has a particular interest in the development of novel percutaneous ablative therapies as well as improved drug delivery using ultrasound mediation and electroporation techniques.
