Miss Eleni Mavrides holds a substantive NHS post at the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust as a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. She trained as an undergraduate at Guys and St Thomas Hospitals Medical School, London, qualifying in 1997. She completed her training in the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St Georges Hospital Medical school and Queen Charlottes and Hammersmith Hospitals, gaining widespread experience in all aspects of the specialties including ultrasound. During the period of 1999-2001, she completed two years of research in obstetric ultrasound at St Georges Hospital University and in 2004 she gained a Doctorate of Medicine of the University of London and the Advanced Diploma in Obstetric Ultrasound from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG).
Miss Mavrides has achieved multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and she completed a fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (keyhole surgery) at St Marys, Watford General and Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals, and has thus gained extensive surgical experience in oncology, infertility, menstrual disorders and fibroids. She is an examiner of the University of London for the MBBS degree. She holds a Doctorate of Medicine of the University of London and she is actively involved in the training of obstetricians and gynaecologists at all levels. She runs regular workshops in laparoscopic surgery and basic surgical skills. She is also a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Royal Society of Medicine, British society of Gynaecological Endoscopists and European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopists.
Miss Mavrides holds regular weekly consultations at the Wellington Hospital and is able to respond to requests for ad hoc appointments where needed. Patients proceeding to surgery will be booked swiftly at the Wellington Hospital. She is happy to see patients for routine gynaecological checks, as well as for chronic or longstanding menstrual disorders. She also offers pre-conception counselling, as well as an empathic service to post menopausal patients.
Miss Mavrides specialises in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and uses minimal access techniques wherever possible. This greatly reduces the amount of time patients require for post-operative recovery. She is registered with all the major medical insurance companies but is also happy to accommodate self funding patients. She is bi-lingual, conversing equally in both English and Greek.
