Mr Jean-Pierre Jeannon is a Consultant ENT Head and Neck Surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust. He is Clinical Lead of the Head and Neck Multi Disciplinary Team at Guy's Hospital and Chairman of the South East London Cancer Network Head and Neck Tumour Working Group. He is a member of the Court of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Mr Jeannon was born in London and graduated from the University of Birmingham Medical School. He undertook his basic surgical training in Birmingham and his higher ENT surgical training in Newcastle upon Tyne. There he spent a year of full-time research working at the Cancer Research Unit studying molecular markers in head and neck cancer. He spent an additional year of advanced head and neck surgical fellowship training at the University of Toronto and Princess Margaret Hospital with Dr John Jonathan Irish and Dr Dale Brown.
In 2001, Mr Jeannon was appointed Consultant Head and Neck Surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas Hospital London. During his seven years of consultant practice he has helped develop and re-organise head and neck Cancer services in South East London. This is now one of the largest head and neck centres in the UK managing over 450 new cases per year.
Mr Jeannon's surgical interests are salvage surgery following chemo-radiation, reconstruction, thyroid and salivary gland surgery. His research interests include: molecular biology and translational research in head and neck cancer. He has published over 25 peer review papers, two book chapters and one book in various subjects in head and neck surgery. He has given over 20 presentations to international meetings.
