Mr Shakib holds dual qualifications in Dentistry (Birmingham 1998) and Medicine (UCL 2003). He was awarded a Doctorate in Molecular Medicine in 2002 (UCL). Mr Shakib received an MRCS in 2006 and was awarded a Specialist Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons in 2010. His academic career has been recognized with multiple distinctions and awards.
Mr Shakib has had extensive experience in all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery covering injuries, cancers, deformities and reconstruction of all areas of the mouth, jaws, face and neck. His special interests include skin malignancy, salivary gland surgery, facial trauma and facial micro-vascular reconstruction and treatment of dental implant patients with bone augmentation when necessary (in excess of 1000 implant patients to date).
Mr Shakib has an ongoing interest in teaching and research. He is a teacher, examiner and mentor of specialist trainees and has been an examiner at the Royal College of Surgeons of England since 2010. He has presented numerous papers at scientific meetings, is regularly published in Scientific Journals and is a reviewer for the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and other medical publications including the British Medical Journal.
