Mr Luke Cascarini graduated in medicine and surgery at the University of Wales, Cardiff in 2000. He also holds a degree in dental surgery (Bristol 1995). He undertook general medical and surgical training including emergency medicine, elderly care medicine, vascular surgery and colorectal surgery and obtained his membership at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He also holds Fellowship in Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons, England.
He went on to take higher surgical training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in the South Thames Region including Guys Hospital, Kings Hospital, Queen Victoria's Hospital East Grinstead, Canterbury Hospital Kent and St Georges Hospital London. He is part of the South London Head & Neck Cancer group and provides a specialist service in Oral Cancer and Reconstruction. He is also part of the Regional Cranio-Maxillofacial Trauma Service.
Mr Cascarini has a special interest in Temporomandibular Joint Surgery and this includes Arthroscopy and Joint Replacement Surgery.
He has published over fifty papers, presented nationally and internationally, and lectured internationally in the subjects of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. In addition, he is co author of the 'Oxford Specialist Handbook of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery' and is currently working on the second edition. He is co author of Elsever's two volume textbook 'Maxillofacial Surgery', 3rd Edition and is co author of 'Principles of Surgery ' Everything you need to know but were frightened to ask!'. He has also published several chapters in surgical text books.
He has recently finished his tenure of five years as Associate Editor and remains a Reviewer of the of British Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He is Section Editor of the International Journal of Maxillofacial Surgery and has completed three years as Chairman of the Information Sub-Committee of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
